Larry Towell: The World From My Front Porch
February 16 through June 15, 2008

While Kurtis has been photographing in New Orleans I have been helping to install the next exhibition at GEH. Larry Towell: The World From My Front Porch.

Here is the official word from the museum.

"In celebration of three decades of photojournalism, George Eastman House presents a multi-media retrospective exhibition of work by the photographer Larry Towell, featuring photographs, writings, and audio recordings of original spoken words and music performances. Through an intimate perspective, Towell has captured scenes from the many political and geographical conflicts of the last thirty years. The World from My Front Porch is an exhibition that seeks to address the impact of social unrest on cultural identity."

The show opens to the public next Saturday and we still have quite a bit to do. Larry was in the gallery all week with us laying out his work.

New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity

Hurricane Katrina Recovery Effort
New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity is leading an unprecedented rebuilding effort, as the largest homebuilder in New Orleans. In 2008, NOAHH plans on building hundreds of new homes in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, and Plaquemines Parishes.

Kurtis will be joining a group of students from the School Without Walls and St. John Fisher next week in New Orleans. The students will be helping New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity rebuild. Kurtis will be there to photograph and document the trip. He will be sending pictures back daily for the blog and for a article with the D&C so stay tuned.

Julia wanted to go as well but unfortunately she is highly allergic to mold and was advised by her doc to stay in Rochester. That's ok, she will keep the blog going and let you all know what Kurtis is seeing and doing. Apparently they will also be there during Mardi Gras so I am sure that there will be some fun pictures from that as well.

All the best,

Julia and Kurtis

A Perfect Bridal Show

Christmas Eve

Just getting around to processing our Christmas pictures. We have been so busy working on the albums for our clients that I hadn't relized that it was almost February and hadn't gotten the christmas pictures up and out. We had a great time we went down to DC to see Kurtis's family, hung out with family, played with the nephews and neice. Saw a great photo show at the National Gallery of Art and of course ate way to much! Here are some pictures from Christmas Eve Services.

When Julia was taking the pictures, she forgot she had a lit candle in her hand and almost set her hair on fire in the process. Now that would of made for a memorable Christmas Eve!
