Magnolia Trees in Bloom

Oxford Street in Rochester is absolutely beautiful right now as all 100+ Magnolia Trees are in bloom. Even with gas approaching $4.00 a gallon I will drive out of my way to go down Oxford and look at the trees. If you are in the Park Ave. area it is worth a look.

Hanging out with Larry Towell and Mike Stevens

This past weekend I was fortunate to organize Larry Towell's lecture / multi media performance with  Mike Stevens. Amazing music and images. Below are some pictures from the rehersal, a quick clip from the actual performance where you can hear Larry's guitar and Mike's amazing harmonica styling and then some shots from the performance itself.

LARRY TOWELL

"Larry Towell's business card reads "Human Being". Like Robert Doisneau, he is one those rare photojournalists who travels reluctantly and only when the subject really matters. Experience as a poet and a folk musician did much to shape his personal style, and wherever he travels, Towell concentrates on finding and photographing intimacy. He became a Magnum nominee in 1988, and a full member in 1993"

"If there's one theme that connects all my work, I think it's that of land-lessness; how land makes people into who they are and what happens to them when they lose it and thus lose their identities."

Larry Towell: The World From My Front Porch
February 16 through June 15, 2008

Here is the official word from the museum.

"In celebration of three decades of photojournalism, George Eastman House presents a multi-media retrospective exhibition of work by the photographer Larry Towell, featuring photographs, writings, and audio recordings of original spoken words and music performances. Through an intimate perspective, Towell has captured scenes from the many political and geographical conflicts of the last thirty years. The World from My Front Porch is an exhibition that seeks to address the impact of social unrest on cultural identity.

MIKE STEVENS

Hailed as an innovative musician and author, Mike transcends the perceived limitations of the instrument in virtually every musical genre. His aggressive soulful approach to the harmonica takes audiences on an incredible journey. Best known for his groundbreaking work in the bluegrass field with legendary Grand Ole Opry members "Jim & Jesse" (with whom he has performed on The Grand Ole Opry over 300 times); Mike was able to create an original, much sought after and often copied, style of playing the harmonica."

Matt and Michelle - April 12, 2008

Matt and Michelle - April 12, 2008

Matt and Michelle were married at St. Mary's Church in Canandaigua,
New York with their wedding reception at Casa Larga Vineyards.

Michelle's flowers were pink tulips. I have never seen
a bridal bouquet of tulips before and they were
 absolutely gorgeous!!

Some of our favorite pictures of Matt and Michelle...

Even though Sonnenberg Gardens has not opened for the year,
the grounds outside are still beautiful.

They had their reception at Casa Larga
beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!

Congratulations Matt and Michelle!!!

What happened to the Kracke's?

Oh my, we fell off the face of the earth! We both got the flu and were home sick in bed for two weeks. Because of that our entire world came to a crashing halt so the blog was ignored for a bit. But we are back and our wedding season has started so be on the look out for pictures from the weddings.

Cheers,

Julia and Kurtis
