New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity

Hurricane Katrina Recovery Effort
New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity is leading an unprecedented rebuilding effort, as the largest homebuilder in New Orleans. In 2008, NOAHH plans on building hundreds of new homes in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, and Plaquemines Parishes.

Kurtis will be joining a group of students from the School Without Walls and St. John Fisher next week in New Orleans. The students will be helping New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity rebuild. Kurtis will be there to photograph and document the trip. He will be sending pictures back daily for the blog and for a article with the D&C so stay tuned.

Julia wanted to go as well but unfortunately she is highly allergic to mold and was advised by her doc to stay in Rochester. That's ok, she will keep the blog going and let you all know what Kurtis is seeing and doing. Apparently they will also be there during Mardi Gras so I am sure that there will be some fun pictures from that as well.

All the best,

Julia and Kurtis

A Perfect Bridal Show

Christmas Eve

Just getting around to processing our Christmas pictures. We have been so busy working on the albums for our clients that I hadn't relized that it was almost February and hadn't gotten the christmas pictures up and out. We had a great time we went down to DC to see Kurtis's family, hung out with family, played with the nephews and neice. Saw a great photo show at the National Gallery of Art and of course ate way to much! Here are some pictures from Christmas Eve Services.

When Julia was taking the pictures, she forgot she had a lit candle in her hand and almost set her hair on fire in the process. Now that would of made for a memorable Christmas Eve!

Not Forgotten: Life and Death in Rochester

- Kurtis and Julia's other life...when not shooting weddings, we work for George Eastman House, International Museum of Photography and Film in Rochester New York. Julia is Manager of Exhibitions and Program Design, meaning that she helps to facilitate, organize and occasionally curate the exhibitions and also program, organize and implement all public events for the museum. Kurtis helps to design, build and install the exhibitions. Currently we are working on Not Forgotten: Life and Death in Rochester. It opens to the public Saturday January 19, 2008. The exhibition is the work of Will Yurman, staff photographer for The Democrat and Chronicle Newspaper. Will spent 2007 photographing the prayer vigils, funurals, families and friends of the 58 victims. He has created an amazing online piece that includes his photographs, family photographs of the victims and audio from his interview with the families. It is heatrwrenching and amazing all at the same time. If you haven't had a chance to see it please visit this link.

The exhibition opens to the public on Saturday and we all have been hard at works. Here is a glimpse of the gallery so far.

The show runs from January 19, 2008 - March 2, 2008. If you get a chance stop by and see it.

Hello all in blog land! Kracke Photography finally has a blog. We are still trying to figure out how everything works so check back often as we want to use this blog to showcase our weddings and what we have been up to lately. We are crazy busy people, sometimes it's hard to find us.
